If you are a smoker there is probably not much I can tell you that you
don’t already know about the health, social and financial benefits to stopping.
So all I have to say is, if you are fed up standing outside for that
cigarette, being treated like an outcast, fed up of being controlled by nicotine addiction and spending a
small fortune, then it's time to take some positive action.
Even though the nicotine addiction overrides your freedom of choice at
the moment, this does not mean you can't take it back. Smokers in addition to being addicted to nicotine,
smoke because it fills a gap in an emotional need and they have become used to using cigarettes as the
solution.
For many smokers the very notion of stopping creates a range of fears
in the mind like these:

What kind of person will I be when I stop?

I change my friends?

How
will I feel about those around me that still smoke?

if I put on weight?

It's
part of me, who I am.

have seen me through the bad times in my life, it would be like losing an old
friend.
Sound
familiar? This is the way your mind tries to sabotage your efforts. It is responding to the fear of stopping
smoking.
The fact is
that nicotine leaves your body after a few days. Overcoming the nicotine addiction is never the real challenge
with stopping smoking, it's the hard wired habits and associations that you have developed over time that make
it difficult. That's why many people who stop for long periods of time go back to smoking. Stopping using
willpower or chemical aids alone mean the associations have not been dealt with. Your mind is then just waiting
to catch you off guard and "just have the one" either socially or at times of stress.
Maybe now is
the time for you to take back your freedom of choice and who knows you may well love the person you are as a non
smoker.
